YOUNG Brisbane midfielder Sam Mayes has taken out the AFL NAB Rising Star nomination for round 12. The 8th overall pick in last year’s national draft, Mayes has had an impressive start to his career as a Brisbane Lion, particularly this weekend where he amassed 25 disposals and 7 marks. FOR the second consecutive week, only one charge has been laid at the MRP. PORT ADELAIDE 19.11 (125) def GWS GIANTS 6.14 (50) GREATER Western Sydney had plenty of fans this week against Port Adelaide. THE Fremantle Dockers have entered the AFL’s top 4 after a scrappy and unconvincing win against the struggling Brisbane Lions at Patersons Stadium.
Brisbane made seven changes for this game, welcoming back Daniel Rich, Tom Rockliff and Matthew Leuenberger all from injury and when combined with Simon Blacks record setting 319th game for the Lions, the visitors looked a much better side today than in previous weeks
