What our experts say:
Essendon vs Carlton:
Essendon’s loss to North Melbourne last week, when the Kangaroos had a restricted bench due to injuries, was one of the worst of their season. They should have finished full of running but instead ended with a whimper.
Meanwhile Carlton kept its slim finals hopes alive with a win over Brisbane but with St Kilda, Fremantle and the Bombers fighting for that solitary eighth spot it’s not looking good for Ratten and the boys. Expect Essendon to be hell-bent on survival.

Essendon ($2.12) vs. Carlton ($1.75):
The Bombers were very disappointing last week and it was horrible to watch. They tried so valiantly, yet were let down so badly with basic skill errors and limited accountability. The Blues would love to see that again as they are a great team when able to rack up the uncontested ball. Their swift ball movement allows the speedy forwards to avail themselves in numbers. I do find this a really tough game to invest in heavily. Perhaps the previous encounter where the Bombers mauled the high flying Blues (then premiership favourites) by 10 goals earlier in the year is a key indicator……
Suggested bet: Bombers to win @ $2.12
