What our experts say:

Daniel Paproth

Richmond vs North Melbourne
Last week’s two point loss to Gold Coast was catastrophic for Richmond at such a crucial point of the season. Weakened by Ivan Maric missing from the side, the Tigers looked a long way from the team that was so impressive mid-season.

The picture couldn’t have looked any different at North Melbourne, who has now won four or their past five since the huge loss to Hawthorn, the only loss being by two points against a determined, Dean Cox-inspired West Coast.

A few weeks ago this would have been a moral for the Tigers but the Kangaroos have leapfrogged them on the ladder and are pressing hard for seventh or eighth place on the ladder. If they are still in that rich vein of form they should win easily.

Max Prophet, Footy Punter

Richmond ($2.20) vs. North Melbourne ($1.69):
How big was the late withdrawal of the big man Maric last week? Surely the Tigers would have got home with him at the helm. They may have even done so had Cotchin been on the ground for the last few minutes as the Suns were piling goals on them! No doubt their loss was a disaster for the resurgent Tigers who just cannot claim a finals berth. Are they heartbroken? Of course. Can they recover and beat the Kangaroos? Of course. They regain the mullet, Martin and Miller, while the Roos may be without Petrie, who looked sore last week and sat out he last quarter with a groin complaint. They’ll definitely be without Ziebell (how can he get 4 weeks for trying to get the ball when Judd gets 4 weeks for trying to pull the arm of a defenceless opponent with an obvious pre-existing condition? This punter would have given Judd 12!) through suspension, but they are very strong through the middle and should cover the loss OK.

Suggested bet: Tigers to win @ $2.20
