What our experts say:

Daniel Paproth

St Kilda vs Essendon
Last week’s loss to North Melbourne was bad news for St Kilda. Whilst they still have a solid percentage of 116.4%, it was their inability to keep up with a mid-table side that saw them being frowned upon by punters.

Essendon has been St Kilda’s bogey side in recent years as well, back when St Kilda was all but shoo-ins for preliminary finals, at the least, and the Bombers were struggling in the bottom eight. The tables have turned and Essendon is back in the top four.

It is fair to say too that while two close results against Richmond and Adelaide in recent weeks could easily have gone the Saints way, they have not been at their best. Playing in their new away strip the Bombers should dissect St Kilda.

Essendon by 25
SC – Nick Riewoldt (St K), Jobe Watson (Ess)

St Kilda ($3.15) vs. Essendon ($1.38):
There has been plenty of talk about the Saints lack of height given their key injuries to Blake and Stanley, poor form of Kosi and the suspension of Goddard. Their saviours are not worthy and the Bombers will attack this game full of merit, Crameri their only casualty courtesy of a broken jaw (not his). The Bombers have shown a liking for match-ups with the Saints and even through the haloed era of the last few years, the Bombers have reigned supreme. I expect the same to unfold at Etihad on the weekend. It will be interesting to see if Hurley can string three good games in a row!

Suggested bet: Bombers at the margin (40+) @ $3.10
