What our experts say:

Daniel Paproth

Brisbane vs Melbourne
It was all doom and gloom for Brisbane at the end of last season and much of the start of this one but they have turned themselves around with some mightily competitive performances in recent weeks. Their 58-point smashing of the Western Bulldogs last week – in Melbourne, no less – showed they aren’t just making up the numbers any longer.

With Jonathan Brown still finding his way back to his best form, they found other avenues to goal – Daniel “Big Sauce!” Merrett’s switch to attack has been a masterstroke, and he has been ably helped by Ash McGrath.

Melbourne won their second game for the year comprehensively last week but they certainly didn’t look great whilst going about it. A long way to go and it will be tough for them up here.

Brisbane by 52
SC – Jed Adcock (Bris), Jack Grimes (Melb)
