What our experts say:

Daniel Paproth

Essendon vs Western Bulldogs
After two disastrous weeks in which they lost close games to Melbourne and Sydney – had they beaten Melbourne, as they should have, and overcome Sydney, remarkably they would be sitting atop the ladder with only one loss, by a point to Collingwood – Essendon got themselves back into the top four with a good win over Fremantle.

The Western Bulldogs had been talked up a bit too – a few media pundits suggested Brendan McCartney had been one of the best coaches of the season so far. But they were crushed by a terrible, terrible loss toBrisbanelast week.

It doesn’t bode well for the Dogs. Essendon move the ball quickly and efficiently when at their best and if the Doggies aren’t up to the task it could be a massacre.

Essendon by 56
SC – Jobe Watson (Ess), Daniel Giansiracusa (WB)
