What our experts say:
Fremantle vs Essendon
Fremantle are in an ugly spot on the ladder. Sitting 11th with a 6-5 record, their percentage, 94.5, will hold them back if they do prove to make a run up the ladder. Above them, on equal points, are St Kilda, Carlton and Richmond, all teams very desperate to play finals in 2012. Do the Dockers want it as much?
There were good signs against Richmond however. Their first win in Melbourne in god knows how long, the Dockers showed their hunger, moved the ball with precision, and gave it regularly to a man who knows what to do with a footy – Matthew Pavlich.
A much tougher assignment against Essendon, but given the game is at home and the Bombers have been less than convincing in recent weeks, the edge goes to Freo.
SC – Matthew Pavlich (Frem), Jobe Watson (Ess)

Fremantle ($2.20) vs. Essendon ($1.70):
The Dockers just managed to hang on to their season’s hopes with a resounding win against the improving Tigers in Melbourne before their break and they must win this one if they are to trouble the big boys. The Bombers have a horrible record out west and their last two losses will have taken a chunk of confidence from their hangar. It will be interesting to see what impact the loss of Sandilands has on the Dockers – I suspect none as Griffin, Clarke and (maybe) Bradley appear ready to raise their games.
Suggested bet: Dockers to win @ $2.20
