GREATER Western Sydney scored a record fifth Rising Star Nomination for one season with 18 year old Toby Greene taking the honours after his performance against Sydney in Round 14.
Greene was channelling his inner Ablett in recording 31 disposals (16 kicks and 15 handpasses) for the Giants on Saturday night and is a just reward for a player that has shown consistency in becoming one of the new club’s best players.
Giants coach Kevin Sheedy was full of praise for Greene’s play.
“Toby has had an outstanding debut year,” said Sheedy.
“He has shown a great ability to not only win the ball but for an 18-year-old he is extremely tough and mature beyond his years.”
Selected with the 10th pick in the 2011 Draft, Greene joins fellow Giant Rising Star Nominees Jeremy Cameron (Round 2), Tomas Bugg (Round 5), Stephen Coniglio (Round 7) and Dylan Shiel (Round 10).
