CHECK in from 2pm today for our live VFL blog as head around the grounds for the latest news as it happens below.
You can also leave comments and interact with us during our blog.
2:00pm – Welcome to our live blog as we cross around the three VFL games in progress…firstly to do the newly constructed Burbank Oval in Williamstown where the Seagulls lead by three goals mid-way through the second term against Box Hill…
2:01pm – Hawks midfielde Xavier Ellis copped a jarred shoulder in opening term but returned to the field. He has had a terrible run with injuries over his career so far.
2:03pm – Certainly Daniel Pratt has been a top recruit for Box Hill this season. The former Kangaroo has just reduced the margin to 12 points but the Hawks are kicking with a slight breeze in this second term…
2:08pm – In the Foxtel Cup clash at the MCG today, the Werribee Tigers were 21-point victors over West Perth, 10.7 (67) to 6.10 (46). Werribee is through to the semi-finals
2:12pm – Now in that Foxtel Cup clash, Nathan Ablett was impressive in his first senior game at the Tigers…while Robbie Tarrant was the best North Melbourne-listed player.
2:15pm – Now down to Simonds Stadium, where Port Melbourne take on Geelong…the Borough lead by a goal at half time, 6.4 (40) to 5.4 (34). Dean Galea is the big story there. He’s on fire with four goals.
2:16pm – Amos Frank is a terrific story in the VFL. He’s just snapped a brilliant goal to extend Box Hill’s lead – yes the Hawks lead – by 10-points at half time against Williamstown. The Seagulls led by 26-points at quarter time.
2:18pm – And just a quick check to the game at Casey Fields between Casey and Collingwood, all square early on, 2.2 (14) apiece. Casey is favourite to win this one and improve its 7-1 record.
2:44pm – Interesting story could be brewing down at Simonds Stadium with Geelong leading by 14-points almost midway in the third term against Port Melbourne…
2:46pm – Williamstown is back in front through a goal from Jamie McNamara against Box Hill – 10 mins into third term. It’s an interesting match also…
2:49pm – Meanwhile Casey lead Collingwood by 19-points, 6.5 (41) to 3.4 (22) at Casey Fields.
3:03pm – Cats leading by 14-points over Port Melbourne at three quarter time…is there an upset brewing?
3:12pm – There was a long delay at Williamstown because Daniel Pratt was carried off on a stretcher. We’re unlikely to see him for the rest of the game. Seagulls lead by four points at three quarter time over Box Hill..
3:16pm – Aaron Davey is playing for Casey and has had 15 touches to half time for Casey. It leads by 33-points at main break. Davey remains in contention for a late inclusion for the Queen’s Birthday clash against Collingwood on Monday as he played only the first half.
3:17pm – We will bring you all the final scores…
So final scores in all three matches…
Geelong defeated Port Melbourne by 21-points at Simonds Stadium, 16.10 (106) to 13.7 (85)
Box Hill Hawks defeated Williamstown by 6-points at Burbank Oval, 12.15 (87) to 12.9 (81)
