The number one draft pick will wear Norm Smith’s famous number four jumper and has been hailed as a long-term leadership prospect for Melbourne.

Watts’ draft camp performances were outstanding – he recorded the second fastest time for the 20m sprint despite being 196cm tall – and his U18 championship was dynamite.

But Demons fans may have to wait a while to see the teenager in action, because Melbourne has put Watts on a modified training program to prepare him for the rigours of AFL footy.

Watts won’t play any games until at least April 2009.
