GREATER Western Sydney has already flown the coup with rumours suggesting that young stars such as Melbourne’s Tom Scully and Adelaide’s Taylor Walker have agreed to lucrative contracts at the new club.
Adelaide’s football operations manager Phil Harper said Walker’s management want to put contract talks on hold until the end of the season which further enhances speculation that he is off to the GWS.
“We’ve spoken to his [Walker's] manager a couple of times and the bottom line is they want to put it [his contract negotiation] off until the end of the year and we respect that,” Harper told the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper.
“Obviously, it’s not ideal for us but there’s not much we can do about it. There’s no use panicking about something you’ve got no control over. All you can do is try to talk to them about it and let them make a call from there. You can’t force people to do what they don’t want to do.”
Other names to be bandied around in the early months of the year include Collingwood’s Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury, Carlton’s Marc Murphy and Western Bulldogs forward Josh Hill.
