AFTER four years as CEO of North Melbourne, Eugene Arocca has today resigned the club.
Club president James Brayshaw made the announcement at 1pm today after a hastily called press conference where he read read a statement from Arocca in which he said that his position at the club had become “untenable” and that he was resigning due to matters “beyond my control”.
Brayshaw announced that chief operating officer Cameron Vale will be fill the vacancy on a temporary basis and also denied any rift with Arocca
“There isn’t a feud, there has never been a feud,” said Brayshaw.
But speculation has been running rampant in both traditional and social media about the announcement, with comments circulating on Twitter that Arocca’s resignation had indeed come about due to a growing rift with Brayshaw.
Brayshaw listed some of Arocca’s achievements in his four-and-a-half year reign: the development of the club’s $15 million administrative and training headquarters; the club’s move from shareholder to member ownership; a membership increase from 23,000 in 2008 to a record of nearly 33,000 this season; and revenue growth from $23 million in 2008 to $30 million this year.
