PUNTERS have backed Hawthorn to beat Essendon tonight despite a hefty list of injuries and its star forward Lance Franklin on the sidelines through suspension.

According to IASbet.com, the Hawks are at $1.64 to defeat the Bombers, while Essendon is at $2.30 in what is expected to be a blockbuster clash.

Hawthorn is missing some gun key position players and will take a much shorter team into the clash.

Melbourne is marginally favourite against Richmond on Saturday.

The Demons are at $1.90, while Richmond is into $1.94.

The Western Bulldogs are obvious favourites against the Gold Coast. The Bulldogs are at $1.15, while Gold Coast is out to $5.50.

Collingwood is favoured against Sydney. The Pies are at $1.16 and the Swans are at $5.25.

Similarly, Fremantle should win against Brisbane at Subiaco according to punters. The Dockers are at $1.17, while the Lions are out to $5.15.

The undefeated Geelong is seen as the certainties of the round against Adelaide at Skilled Stadium. The Cats are at $1.07, while the Crows are at $8.75.

And North Melbourne is favourite against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. The Kangaroos are at $2.55, while the Power is at $2.55.
