CARLTON’S Chris Judd was a runaway winner for his second Brownlow Medal on Monday night, polling 29 votes to finish three clear of Geelong’s Gary Ablett and four clear of hot favourite Dane Swan.

Judd wasn’t expected to poll so well given Carlton’s inconsistent season and Judd, himself, hasn’t been in star-studded form which resulted in him being named on the interchange bench for the All-Australian team.

But it was clear from the opening rounds that the star Blues midfielder was going to poll well on Monday night. He stormed clear at the half way mark with 17 votes.

It is Judd’s second Brownlow and coach Brett Ratten admitted during the week that hi star midfielder still had plenty of improvements left in his game.

Ablett finished runner-up and presented the award to Judd after being last year’s winner.

Swan of course had reason to be disappointed but turned his sights to Saturday’s AFL grand final against the Saints.
