HAWTHORN will take on Adelaide in round one of the 2011 season to commemorate 20 years since the Crows beat the Hawks in their first AFL match back in 1991.

North Melbourne, similarly, will also be on the road in the opening round against West Coast at Subiaco Oval.

Richmond and Carlton, traditionally, will continue to kick off the season with a Geelong and St Kilda night-time blockbuster slated to follow.

The Hawks and the Crows have built up a simmering rivalry over the years and more recently back in 2007 when Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin almost single handledly eliminated the Crows from the finals in an elimination final.

Both teams will be looking to get off to a great start to the season after mediocre starts that cost both teams a decent crack at the finals this year.
