WESTERN Bulldogs rookie Mitch Hahn has impressed the Bulldogs faithful to suggest that he is the perfect back-up plan if things go wrong..
The 29-year-old, who had played 181 games at the Dogs, appears to have a point to prove after being dumped at the end of last season before being handed a rookie lifeline.
German believes Hahn is an ideal back-up for the Bulldogs’ premiership aspirations.
In the season opener for Williamstown against Werribee last week, Hahn led the way with six goals and was one of the best on ground.
“I think that he’s always there for them,” German said.
“They (the Bulldogs) know in the back of their mind that they always know what they’ve got with Mitch. I think if he keeps performing like what he did on the weekend, then sooner rather than later, he’ll get a chance.”
Hahn, who has coaching aspirations, is also an assistant coach at the Seagulls.
“I think part of his coaching role has made him feel like he’s got more responsibility and in saying that, he performed really well. Not only did he kick six goals, but he done all the hard work which we know he can do,” he said.
Other Bulldogs rookies who will battle with Hahn to get promoted this season include former Sydney utility Ed Barlow and young goalkicker Matthew Panos.
