Are the Western Bulldogs Pretenders??
Posted by JBricJun 9. 2010 12:05 amThe Western Bulldogs are up there with Richmond as being one of the most annoying and frustrating teams to support.
The clubs faithful have been installed with a fresh hope for the first time in almost a decade with a list that is actually capable of not just making the finals, but winning the premiership.
Last year the sons of the west were so close to making the grand final, after losing to St Kilda in an epic battle.
What they lacked was a real target up forward, and for that reason alone they went all-out to secure Barry Hall for this season.![]()

So far, Hall has been one of the better players for the Doggies, but the rest have been fairly disappointing.
Jason Akermanis has had his worst season yet, and dropped to the VFL for a number of reasons.
Brad Johnson and Nathan Eagleton seem to finally be getting old, while Shaun Higgins is injured, and Adam Cooney good, but not excellent.
There is no obvious reason for their poor start to the season, but rather an even spread across the board.
Things just don’t seem to be happening for the dogs, and they are dropping games they never would have last year.
Their loss to ST Kilda a few rounds ago would not have happened last year, as too would have their defeat to Essendon.
The Western Bulldogs need to find the form that made them pre season champions and flag favoutrites fast, or face another finals campaign of being just short of the mark.
