Following a turbulent 2007, disaster again struck at West Coast in 2008, with the side only recording four wins to finish in fifteenth position.

John Worsfold is undoubtedly looking to rebuild his struggling team, and has recruited some able youngsters to partner a swathe of sub-fifty-game players.

Heading the charge will be athletic big man Nick Naitanui, and balanced onballer Tom Swift.

Look for improvement from Chris Masten, Scott Selwood, Beau Wilkes and key forward Mitch Brown in 2009.

Round 1 sees the Eagles fly out to the Gabba to battle the Lions, before hosting Port Adelaide at the WACA and then facing St Kilda at the Telstra Dome.
