What is going on in the west??

In the past decade we have seen a remarkable turnaround of two sides.

On one hand we had the super successful West Coast Eagles, who dominated the competition for the majority of the past years and had a premierships to show for their efforts.

On the other hand, we had Fremantle, a side who promised so much every year, but delivered so little.

In the history of their club they have made the Preliminary Finals only once, and lost convincingly.

Now we see the tables turn.

West Coast is one of the leagues most unpredictable sides going around.
When they are on, they can match it with the best, but when they are not, they are a predictable side with few match winners.

Fremantle on the other hand, looked like a spoon favourite at beginning of the year, but now they find themselves staring at a top four finish, with the talk of Grand Finals now creeping over to the West.

Mark Harvey was staring at the end of his coaching career this year, now he is about to begin a journey that could see him become a club immortal.

It really is a case of up and down for sides in Western Australia.

But I wonder why? And what and how?

How can a side be so erratic for so many years?

Yes it is common for an Adelaide to surprise us the way they have this year, but for the majority of their history they have been either up, or down.

But it is these two sides that are betters nightmares.

So, the point of the story is, no matter what you think you have learnt about either side this year, don’t expect it to ring true next year, or even in the second half of this year.
