IT’S been a good week for the Saints, soundly trouncing Essendon on Saturday night and now backing that up with youngster Arryn Siposs taking out the Round 15 NAB Rising Star nomination.

Siposs, 19, had a big game against Essendon with 17 possessions, including six marks, and kicking two goals in St Kilda’s 71-point demolition of the highly fancied Bombers.

The Saints drafted Siposs with the 75th selection of the 2010 Draft and the club has been pleased with his versatility, work ethic and development.

“His capacity to play multiple roles combined with his elite kicking skills are highly valued,” Saints coach Scott Watters said.

“And with a continued focus on improvement we believe Arryn can develop into an extremely versatile player for the Saints.”

For his part Siposs seems pleased with development and the bond that he has formed with his team mates.

It took a little bit of time to get the boys to trust me in that area but now they tell me, ‘Just go back and take your shot’,” he said.

“And the coaches tell me, ‘If you’re in range, just go for it. We trust your ability to put it through.’”

Siposs has played in seven games so far this season and has netted 51 disposals, 20 marks and 5 goals, 5 behinds in the last three of them.

St Kilda’s next game is this Saturday night when they take on the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
