The AFL is considering moving the Round 14 heavyweight clash between St Kilda and Geelong to the MCG.

The fixture is currently set to be a St Kilda home game at the Docklands, but several issues have made the switch a possibility.

A capacity MCG crowd of 100,000 dwarfs the capacity of the Docklands – 53,000 – and if the two teams continue their form a mammoth crowd is expected.

The second issue is the ongoing dispute the AFL is having with the management of Etihad Stadium.

A transfer to the MCG would deprive the Etihad Stadium management of a huge windfall, and St Kilda would end up doing much better financially if the game was played at the MCG.

If the switch eventuated, it would be the first time in the Docklands’ 10-season lifespan that such a move had been made.
