St Kilda has blasted Collingwood by 88 points in a powerhouse display at the Docklands.

Playing perfect Monday night football, the Saints were engaged in a good contest with the Magpies early but then broke away and asserted their dominance.

The first eight minutes of the game were hard fought, with both teams running hard and scoring a goal apiece.

However, after that early battle St Kilda piled on eight unanswered goals to take a 49-point halftime lead.

In the third quarter the lead was extended, and in the final quarter things died down a bit because the result was beyond doubt.

The Saints played some breathtaking football, highlighted by several passages that saw a group of players run the ball the full length of the ground with handballing before setting up a goal.

St Kilda now has a record percentage – 208% – after seven rounds of the season. It is the third highest percentage ever to this stage of a year, the other two were both in the early 1900s.

The ominous form has seen fans salivating at the prospect of a clash with Geelong, which unfortunately will not occur until Round 14.

Next week St Kilda faces Essendon at the Docklands and Collingwood hosts Carlton at the MCG.
