GEELONG defender Max Rooke is set to resume playing football in the next three weeks as he aims to return for another finals assault.

Rooke has had a massive influence on the Cats in the past three years which has led them to winning two of the past three flags.

He has recently returned from the US where he received medical advice and training on tendonitis in his knee.

He returned in a positive frame of mind and Cats VFL coach Dale Amos said it was likely Rooke would resume in the VFL in the next three weeks.

“It’s a huge step to go from not playing for a long period of time and got straight into the AFL. You’d be surprised to see him not play in the VFL,” Amos said.

“He’s a bit of a week by week proposition at the moment. He made some fantastic in roads when he was overseas. It definitely seems like he’s moving in the right direction,” he said.

The gutsy defender would be a huge addition come September.
