Vickery to debut against Eagles
Posted by Football NationJun 11. 2009 11:14 amRichmond’s first pick in the 2008 AFL draft will make his debut against the West Coast Eagles this Saturday night, after putting in several solid performances at VFL level.
The 200cm, 89kg Tyrone Vickery was selected with pick 8 by the Tigers, who are looking to develop him as a long-term ruckman/forward.
Vickery’s selection in the team to take on the Eagles comes as stand-in coach Jade Rawlings looks to prepare the list for 2010, after a disastrous 2009 campaign.
Vickery kicked 3.5 in a game for Coburg earlier this year and coaching staff have been impressed with his willingness to keep presenting and aptitude for hard work.
The game could see an interesting matchup; Vickery could end up going head-to-head with likely West Coast debutant Nick Naitanui.
Vickery’s father, John, is the current rehabilitation and conditioning coach at Richmond and played for Collingwood.
