Tigers’ Deledio set for Round 1 return

RICHMOND star midfielder Brett Deledio will be rested in this weekend’s match against Geelong in the NAB Cup as the Tigers prepare him for the start of the home and away series.
Deledio, 24, has been out of the Tigers line up since he hobbled off the field during an intra-club practice match on February 10, and subsequent scans had shown that he had minor hamstring damage.
Since then the Tigers have taken a conservative approach to his recovery.
“We wanted Brett to get through two weeks of solid training before a major hit-out,” said Richmond’s Elite Performance Manager, Matt Hornsby.
With expectations for this season running higher than normal, and with the ongoing attention on coach Damien Hardwick’s contract extension, the club is doing everything it can to ensure it gets a good start to the season with a strong showing against Carlton in their week one contest.
