Brandon Ellis Rising Star Nomination Round 17 2012JUST last week Richmond great Matthew Richardson went on the record to say that, in his opinion, it was only a matter of time before first-year Tiger player Brandon Ellis receives an AFL Rising Star nomination this season.

“We haven’t really heard anyone in the media talking about Brandon, which is probably not a bad thing because he’s just going about his job beautifully,” Richardson said on last week’s “Talking Tigers” podcast.

And now his prediction just came true with Ellis getting the Round 17 NAB Rising Star nomination.

Ellis had a great game for the Tigers in a losing effort against North Melbourne  collecting 21 possessions (five marks) and marking the third successive game for him with 20 or more disposals. He has averaged more than 15 disposals per game this season.

Ellis was the 15th pick of the 2011 draft out of West Coburg and the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup competition and has played in every game for the Tigers this year.
