Minson and Gilbee impress for likely senior recalls

WESTERN Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson was clearly the best on ground in yesterday’s win for Williamstown in the VFL.
He had 29 disposals and 29 hit-outs and turned the match in the third term with two inspiring goals during the Seagulls’ eight-goal term. Box Hill had led by 20-points at the main break.
Lindsay Gilbee was also impressive off half-back with 18 disposals.
Gilbee said the extra match fitness in the heat yesterday will hold him in good stead for a recall for the Bulldogs trip west against Fremantle next Monday.
“I thought I was Ok against the Gold Coast for my first run for the year. I’ve only missed one game but to get a bit of continuity into the legs will only hold me in good stead for later in the year,” Gilbee said.
Patrick Veszpremi, who kicked four goals yesterday, still had plenty to work on according to Bulldogs development coach Peter German.
“Patty’s an opportunist that’s certainly got to work hard to get a game at the Doggies but I think today was certainly one of his better games. He still needs to understand what’s expected of him as a forward,” German said.
Mitch Wallis was super in the centre clearances and amassed 21 disposals. Ben Jolley (22 touches), Nathan Djerrkura (16) and Brett Goodes (16) were also important.
