GEELONG premiership defender Darren Milburn will be on the sidelines for at least the next two weeks with a slight hamstring tear.

It is expected to open the door up for mature age recruit James Podsiadly to make his much anticipated senior AFL debut against Hawthorn on Easter Monday.

“Darren Milburn sustained a grade one hamstring injury on Friday night and will be missing for one to two weeks at this stage,” assistant football manager Steve Hocking told geelongcats.com.au.

In better news for the Cats, defender Max Rooke will play VFL this Saturday before coming back from a pre-season knee injury.

Podsiadly, meanwhile, was in devastating form for the Cats in a VFL practice match last week after booting seven goals.

He is expected to be included in an extended squad on Thursday for Easter Monday’s blockbuster against Hawthorn at the MCG.

The renowned former VFL star will add a third dimension to the Cats forward line which will test the young Hawks’ defence.
