PERHAPS it was one of the greatest ever escapes – Collingwood coming back from the dead to beat Melbourne by one point at the MCG on Saturday.

The Demons, who were demoralised last week against the Hawks, impressed and led by two goals midway through the final term before the Magpies scraped over the line.

Coach Dean Bailey said after the 12.14 (86) to 12.13 (85) loss: “That’s why the game is never, ever won until the siren goes so you’ve got to push and push until the last second because you never know what might happen,” Bailey said after the match. “We had our chances in the last two minutes when we went inside 50 a couple of times and we just unfortunately didn’t take those chances.”
