WESTERN Bulldogs skipper Brad Johnson is eyeing off the opportunity at making a speedy comeback after being named on an extended interchange bench for Williamstown in its clash against North Ballarat on Saturday.

Williamstown general manager Brendan Curry said that a decision was likely to be made early Saturday morning to determine whether Johnson will return from a troublesome Achilles injury.

Robert Murphy was rushed back from injury for Sunday’s clash against the Brisbane Lions.

Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia told The Sunday Age last week that both players were expected to be a fortnight away.

“I’d say most likely they’d be at least another fortnight and then we’d have to make a decision because we play West Coast with the bye after it so we would make a decision about whether to bring them back or let them go,” Fantasia told The Sunday Age.

“Both of them are quality players so you’d like to have at least one of them in there not losing both,” he said.

But it now appears that Johnson has fast tracked his injury and Murphy was rushed back as the Bulldogs decided against erring on the side of caution at the time of crisis.
