Hawks likely to play it safe with Buddy

HAWTHORN is likely to resist temptation to bring star forward Lance Franklin back for this Friday night’s blockbuster against Geelong with doubt surrounding his hamstring injury.
Franklin suffered a hamstring strain in the week leading up to the match against Greater Western Sydney and strained it further by playing in that match.
Dr Peter Larkins told the AFL website that the Hawks should take a cautious approach with Franklin and focus on their finals campaign.
“Buddy is a tough one because you don’t want another setback,” Larkins said.
“He put his hand up to play [when he did his hamstring against GWS] so I don’t think Buddy’s hand will be heard this time.
“He would have to have a ripper training session [and] he would have to show he can kick [and] bend over on the run.
“So I would imagine they are going to give him one more [week off].”
