RUGBY convert Karmichael Hunt has shown that he will make it as an AFL footballer according to Gold Coast Suns assistant coach Dean Solomon.
Hunt was one of the Suns best against the Kangaroos on the weekend, snaring 16 disposals and possesses a “will to compete”.
“He’s (Hunt) got a will to compete,” Solomon said on SEN radio today.
“Complacency is not in his nature. He’ll definitely make it as an AFL footballer and he’ll be a very, very good player at that level.
“He’s a rare athlete. It’s a big call, but he’s up there with some of the athletes I played with – like Hirdy ‑ the way they drive themselves.
“They go above and beyond to get the best out of themselves.”
Hunt is one of two rugby league converts playing in the AFL. The other is Israel Folau who is showing some promising signs at Greater Western Sydney.
