Jesse Stringer suspended for the seasonPROMISING Geelong midfielder Jesse Stringer has been hit with a club-imposed sanction for the rest of the season after breaching the clubs’ off-field protocol.

Stringer, 21, will be eligible to play VFL from Round 18 but has been banned by the club for the rest of the AFL season.

The Cats released a statement today saying:

“The club is committed to two major outcomes from this situation.

“Firstly, to reinforce the AFL’s respect and responsibility policy to all players and members of the club.

“Secondly the club will support Stringer and encourage him to learn from this experience and to continue to commit himself to develop as a person and a player.”

Stringer was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a woman at a Grovedale house.

Stringer had been a shining light for the Cats this season after commanding an AFL debut.
