Eagles win battle of the emerging teams
Posted by Brent DiamondMay 16. 2010 6:19 amWEST Coast and Melbourne – two developing teams.
The Eagles showed they were perhaps a class above the Demons on Saturday after winning by 29-points.
But it proved that both teams will be very exciting in the future.
The Eagles have a great young list with Josh Kennedy kicking two goals, Mark LeCras kicking two goals, Matthew Priddis dominating in the midfield along with Matt Rosa, Adam Selwood, Dean Cox and Brad Ebert.
Nic Naitanui was kept fairly careful at the MCG.
A positive for the Demons was the form of 2008 No.1 draft selection Jack Watts who shone in his first AFL game of the season.
Demons coach Dean Bailey said: “Jack took a couple of nice marks but it didn’t matter who played in our forward line today,” he said.
“The way we moved the footy would have been tough for many of our blokes in the forward line.”
