Adelaide:

James Polkinghorne, Ryan Harwood and Billy Longer are the big winners out of the Brisbane Lions’ injury management policy.

Carlton:
Ruckman Robbie Warnock has been denied the chance to play his first AFL game of the season by an untimely hamstring injury.

Collingwood:
The club is confident young midfielder Josh Thomas has finally turned the corner in his fight against a foot injury and has predicted a possible return to the VFL in a month.

Essendon:
After a 10-day break between games, James Hird is confident Essendon won’t suffer a letdown against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday.

Fremantle:
Mature-age Fremantle rookie Lee Spurr will make his AFL debut in the Dockers’ clash with Gold Coast on Saturday.

Geelong:
Lightning-fast Geelong draftee Jordan Murdoch will miss tomorrow’s VFL clash against Casey after breaking his finger in innocuous fashion last week.

Gold Coast:
Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has drawn an extremely long bow in claiming Gold Coast lacked respect for the Dockers, according to Suns counterpart Guy McKenna.

Greater Western Sydney:
Tom Scully has rejected suggestions Carlton has shown signs of arrogance, but admits it’s disappointing the Blues won’t field their best side against Greater Western Sydney.

Hawthorn:
Hawthorn’s over-reliance on an ageing midfield core leaves them vulnerable against the AFL’s best sides, club great David Parkin believes.

Melbourne:
The Demons have run out of patience with Jack Watts.

North Melbourne:
Sunday’s meeting with West Coast and their all-conquering ruck combination presents an opportunity for North Melbourne and their struggling big man Todd Goldstein to stamp themselves as genuine forces in the AFL in 2012.

Port Adelaide:
Coach Matthew Primus says his club won’t follow the same line as Richmond and hit the reset button on their season, claiming another loss would effectively rule out finals football.

Richmond:
Richmond has included hard-working, young midfielder, Matthew Arnot, in its 25-man squad for Sunday’s Round 6 clash with Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

St Kilda:
Coach Scott Watters says Justin Koschitzke’s selection as an emergency for the Saints’ match against Hawthorn is a message to his players to remain disciplined.

Sydney Swans:
It’s been a long wait since coming to the club, but Swans first-round draft pick Tom Mitchell will get his first taste of football in the red and white this weekend.

West Coast:
West Coast declared earlier in the week they weren’t concerned about blooding two youngsters in the same match.

Western Bulldogs:
Rejuvenated Western Bulldog Patrick Veszpremi is undergoing a drastic mindset makeover that could help him make a successful transition from carefree forward to miserly backman.
