UPDATE: CARLTON is bracing the worst and believes defender Jeremy Laider has re-injured the same knee that kept him out for two months of the season today in the VFL.
It was thought to be only a slight dislocation but club medicos have suggested it appears to be worse than first thought. It is confirmed that it is the same knee that he injured earlier this season and at this stage, the important defender likely to miss a further two months.
He will have scans tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage.
Laidler came off the ground went straight down to the rooms with medicos working on him but appeared to have landed awkwardly in defence in the second term.
It is not yet known how severe the injury is, but it appears he will play no further part in the rest of the match today. He was scheduled to return against Hawthorn on Friday night in the AFL ranks.
The Blues have just started to get into the match against the Cats after the visitors got out to a handy five goal buffer at the first change.
Jordan Russell has been among the best for the Blues early with six touches.
UPDATE 23/06/12 @ 3:50pm: Nearly 45 minutes after we posted this story the Carlton Football Club confirmed the injury via Twitter saying “Bad news. @Laids_15 has gone down with another knee injury during today’s@NBluesFC match at Visy Park.”
