BRISBANE Lions skipper Jonathan Brown booted seven goals to lead his team to victory over Carlton by 19 -points on Thursday night.

Brendan Fevola kicked another three goals. But it was the fact that the team was trailing be seven points heading into the final term and turned on six goals in the final term that impressed coach Michael Voss.

The Lions won 16.11 (107) to 12.16 (88).

“In the third quarter when we were struggling to find legs, he came on and lifted his intensity for that five-minute patch and just kept us in touch and you could just see him willing the contest and it takes a rare leader to be able to drag the rest of the team with you,” Voss said.

“He had a super performance tonight. He led them very well when we were under fatigue and our backs against the wall and we weren’t looking like we had a lot of run through the middle, he sort of came to the fore.”
