Another slap for the Pies from Malthouse

FORMER Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse believes there are worrying signs about the way his former team are playing and has cast doubts about whether its depth is strong enough entering September.
This is despite the likes of Alan Didak, Andrew Krakouer and Brent Macaffer running around in the VFL yesterday looking to push for senior spots.
“I think the worrying point to Collingwood would be this; I’ve watched them on Anzac Day have the best six players and win by a point. The best six players,’’ he said on 3AW.
“Regularly if you go through the stats you’ll find that (Dane) Swan, (Scott) Pendlebury, (Dale) Thomas, (Dayne) Beams and (Steele) Sidebottom are the top ball-getting players and yet they’re winning games like we saw last night by (six points), like we saw against West Coast by three or four points.
“Somewhere along the line one of the lines is not doing enough. Last night you’d say (Darren) Jolly was the best big man, and that’s not always going to happen.
“I don’t know whether they’ve got that consistency that they had.”
The Pies had a slender six-point win over St Kilda on Saturday night.
